CDP and Mediobanca support the development of LeasePlan

The two groups have signed a loan of 45 million aimed at the operator's growth in electric and hybrid car fleets

CDP and Mediobanca support the development of LeasePlan

Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (Cdp) and Mediobanca have granted a loan of 45 million euros in favor of LeasePlan Italia, a company among the main Italian operators active in long-term car rental and in the management of company fleets. CDP subscribed 55% of the total amount of the loan, for a value of 25 million euro, while the remaining portion was subscribed by Mediobanca which also acted as arranger of the transaction. This was announced in a joint statement by the two groups.

“With this transaction – the note clarifies – CDP and Mediobanca support the development plans of LeasePlan and contribute to the growth of investments in the green economy aimed at reducing polluting emissions. In particular, the funds of CDP and Mediobanca will mainly be used to purchase new ones fleets of electric and hybrid cars, with low environmental impact, and for the support of investments intended for the growth of the company”.

LeasePlan Italia is one of the main Italian operators in the long and medium-term car rental sector and in the management of company fleets, present in Italy for almost 30 years, with a fleet of approximately 140.000 vehicles and over 30.000 customers managed. It employs over 500 people in its offices in Rome, Milan, Trento, Verona, Genoa and Bologna. Customers are represented by multinationals and large companies and by the fabric of small and medium-sized enterprises. There is also a widespread presence in the public administration sector and in the private customer market, which has grown significantly in recent years.

"This initiative - continues the note - is fully consistent with the new strategic approach drawn up by the 2019-21 Business Plan of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti which has placed a renewed commitment to sustainability, carried forward through concrete initiatives to support efficiency and of the energy transition, the circular economy and decarbonisation”.
