Cdp, Bassanini: "No extraordinary dividend and we are ready on Metroweb"

The shareholders of Cassa depositi e prestiti did not ask the management for an extraordinary dividend. To clarify that is the president Franco Bassanini speaking to journalists on the sidelines of a conference.

“Our shareholders know that Cassa is carrying out a work of rebuilding the capital ratios after the disbursement of 10 billion a few years ago to buy Sace, Fintecna and Simest – said Bassanini -. In general, the extraordinary dividend is requested by the shareholders and ours have not asked for anything. Even the banking foundations, which have also been penalized by the stability law, have understood the effort we must make to rebuild the capital ratios”.

The president of the CDP also intervened on the Metroweb affair: "In Metroweb we have a 46% stake that we consider strategic", in which it participates indirectly through the Italian strategic fund, while the majority shareholder, with 53%, is F2i. “We are ready as a shareholder to increase Metroweb's capital endowment, hoping that the majority shareholder will also contribute. Our share is not for sale, then F2i will make its own evaluations. We will still do our part as a minority shareholder,” he added. Bassanini then recalled the need to accelerate investments in Metroweb given the strategic role of fiber optic telecommunications.

CDP is 80,1% controlled by the Ministry of the Economy, 18,4% is in the hands of a group of banking foundations. The remaining 1,5% are treasury shares.
