THEwarranty agreement between Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (Cdp) and Mediocredito Centrale becomes reality, paving the way for 4,3 billion in new financing for approximately 50.000 Italian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The aim is to promote competitiveness and investment.
The role of InvestEu and the European Investment Fund
The operation of this agreement follows theagreement signed in October 2023 between Cdp and the European Investment Fund (EIF), part of the EIB Group (European Investment Bank). This agreement provides for a counter-guarantee granted by the EIF to CDP for 120 million euros, thanks to the resources made available by the InvestEU programme of the European Commission. InvestEu is an essential tool for mobilize strategic investments, supporting EU priorities and providing concrete stimulus to Member States' economies.
How the deal works
Thanks to the coverage activated with the EIF, CDP will be able to guarantee up to 2,8 billion euros to the Guarantee Fund for SMEs. This fund, managed by Mediocredito Centrale on behalf of the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy, will have the opportunity to support new funding for a total exceeding 4,3 billion euros for 50 thousand SMEs. The resources will be distributed through the banking system, ensuring a widespread impact on the territory.
Le available resources they will come like this leave again: 3 billion for competitiveness, more than 1 billion for the cultural and creative sector, and over 300 million for education.
CDP has so far guaranteed 13 billion to the PMI Fund, facilitating 21 billion in financing to over 160 thousand Italian small and medium-sized enterprises.
