Cdp, agreement with the Municipality of Bergamo for territorial development

An agreement has been signed between Cassa Depositi e Prestiti and the Municipality of Bergamo to promote initiatives for the economic revitalization of the area, sustainable urban development and strengthening of the infrastructural system. Specifically, the Protocol provides that CDP supports financial support activities both the Municipality and the businesses of the Bergamo area and province, the latter in relation to their research, development, innovation, growth, internationalization and export needs.

The Protocol also provides support for the real estate area, above all for the acceleration of urban valorisation and regeneration processes, also with direct investments and with the involvement of other national and international operators.

With reference to former Colleoni and Montelungo barracks, CDP Investimenti SGR, the Municipality and the University of Bergamo have undertaken in recent years to promote a project of the entire real estate compendium that fully corresponds to these characteristics, thanks also to the decisive role of the University of Bergamo.

A path that has recently led, as a result of a significant increase in university needs in recent years and above all of the costs of the first intervention hypothesis, to identify a new realization hypothesis on the entire sector of the two barracks, of a single and new integrated university centre. After the passage, in the previous weeks, in the University Council and in the City Council, the BoD of CDP Investimenti positively examined the transaction scheme and decided to proceed with the necessary in-depth studies and comparisons to arrive at the subscription, together with the Lombardy Region , Of a new Supplementary Act to the 2016 Agreement which will give life, together with the interventions of the Guardia di Finanza Academy, to one of the most important urban regeneration operations in the city and beyond.

“Bergamo for several years – he commented the mayor Giorgio Gori – has the privilege of being able to operate, in large-scale urban redevelopment projects, with a national entity such as CDP, implementing interventions of great public importance capable of giving a new perspective and a new identity to the city, thanks also to the contribution of institutions such as the University and the Guardia di Finanza itself. The protocol signed today strengthens and expands this collaboration, promoting wider economic and social development in favor of both the activity of the municipal administration and in support of infrastructural and real estate interventions decided for the future of the entire territory "

"CDP promotes initiatives such as those presented today, which are in line with the strategy outlined in our Business Plan since they are aimed at providing a concrete contribution to the development of the territory through an important urban regeneration project, which involves the redevelopment of areas abandoned for years and the construction of structures that will also be used for student housing", said theCEO of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, Fabrizio Palermo.
