San Raffaele board of directors, Bondi consultant or bankruptcy

At around 11 this morning the board of directors of the San Raffaele del Monte Tabor Foundation will meet. The new top management of the hospital will decide the strategies to be implemented to overcome the difficult economic situation which weighs on the budget with a loss of approximately one billion euros.

The man who will try to pull the hospital out of this quagmire will probably be Enrico Bondi, former special commissioner of Parmalat. The Vatican-registered board of directors will have to ratify his office today and presumably he will be appointed consultant. But everything will depend on the strategy you intend to follow. There are two options: find an agreement for an arrangement with creditors and not declare bankruptcy or declare a state of insolvency, accessing the Marzano law and the extraordinary administration procedure. The latter hypothesis seems to be the one preferred by the Holy See, according to press leaks. However, the presence on today's board of directors of the repairer of the largest Italian food group and the former general manager of the same foundation, Renato Botti, suggest that a rescue attempt will be opted for.

The new board will have until September 15 to present the recovery plan, otherwise the magistrates will request bankruptcy. This is what emerged from yesterday's informal meeting between Giovanni Maria Flick, the new councilor of San Raffaele, the president of the bankruptcy section of the court Filippo Lamanna and the prosecutor Luigi Orsi. However, the request for insolvency could arrive even earlier, in the event that the required guarantees fail. The hospital's opaque accounting and the vagueness of the answers of the people questioned to date could push the magistrates to speed things up.

If the Foundation intends to take these two months to avoid bankruptcy, it is probable that the board will entrust itself to Enrico Bondi. In the event that the Foundation is commissioned, the extraordinary commissioner may be appointed exclusively by the Government.

Also in the morning, the funeral home of Mario Cal, the right arm of the president of San Raffaele Don Verzè, will open. on Monday he committed suicide.
