Cattolica: agreement with the CEI for disaster risk policy

Cattolica Assicurazioni has stipulated an agreement with the CEI, the Italian Episcopal Conference, for an insurance policy that guarantees protection from the risks of catastrophes to all 25.796 parishes of the 225 Italian dioceses.

The complex of building works in the parishes, i.e. the church, intercommunicating rectory and bell tower, will be covered against the risks of earthquakes, floods and inundations throughout the Italian territory.

“This agreement – declared the president of Cattolica Assicurazioni Paolo Bedoni – is the result of the teamwork carried out by the Technical Departments and by the Religious and Non-Profit Organizations Business Unit, an instrument strongly desired by Cattolica to better interpret the needs of the Italian Church, a world to which, by history, identity and competence, we are traditionally linked".

“This agreement – reads the note from Cattolica – takes on a double meaning. Industrial above all, because the project, due to the extent of the coverage, marks a milestone for the Italian insurance industry. The definition of a coverage of this magnitude required an analysis work for the correct definition of the risk and involved the main players of the world reinsurance. In the event of a disaster, Cattolica Assicurazioni will activate its specialized expert body, making the funds available for reconstruction quickly and punctually. Furthermore, the operation is of particular importance for the value of our country's artistic heritage of a religious nature".

Alberto Minali, CEO of Cattolica Assicurazioni, declared: "In the wake of the 2018-2020 Business Plan and in continuity with Cattolica's long-standing commitment in the Religious Institutions sector, the agreement reached rewards and enhances the distinctive proposal of the Group Cattolica in the innovation of insurance solutions, especially aimed at this sector. In a country with a high environmental, hydrogeological and seismic risk like Italy, the operation also takes on a social and cultural value of which we are particularly proud because it protects a heritage that represents the very identity of the country".
