Unipol case, Cassation confirms Berlusconi's statute of limitations

The judges of the sixth section Frcourt of Cassation rejected the appeal advanced by the defenders of Silvio and Paolo Berlusconi against the statute of limitations issued on 31 March by the Milan court of appeal as part of the Unipol trial. The appellants they had asked for an acquittal on the merits by the accusations of complicity in disclosure of official secrecy. The Supreme Court also confirmed the compensation of 80.000 euros in favor of Piero Fassino, the current mayor of Turin and injured party in this process for the illegitimate publication of the telephone call with Giovanni Consorte in which he said "we have a bank".

After the Ruby case, recently closed, and today's Unipol ruling, Silvio Berlusconi's judicial odyssey is however far from over. In fact, another 6 "swords of Damocles" hang over the head of the former prime minister: six judicial cases still open. Here are which ones.

SALE OF SENATORS

Berlusconi is accused before the Court of Naples for the alleged sale of senators, in particular Sergio De Gregorio. The trial, which began last April, will continue in the coming days.

ESCORT BARI

The preliminary hearing in which Berlusconi is accused of "inducing me to make false statements to the judicial authorities" will take place next month in Bari. The accusation is that he paid the Bari entrepreneur Gianpaolo Tarantini to lie about the escorts brought to his summer residences between 2008 and 2009.

RUBY TER

The former Premier is under investigation together with his lawyers Ghedini and Longo and other people for corruption in judicial documents. The hypothesis is that Berlusconi paid the so-called Olgettines until a few weeks ago to buy their silence.

MEDIASET

Last Sunday, Berlusconi completed his 10 and a half month probationary assignment to social services following his final conviction for tax fraud linked to Mediaset TV rights. Now the Milan Surveillance Court will have to assess whether or not his rehabilitation process has been successful and therefore declare the main penalty extinguished, but not the accessory penalty.

PRAISE MONDADORI

Then there is the new civil case with which the De Benedetti family's Cir has asked Fininvest for compensation of over 30 million euros, to which must be added another 60 in interest and legal costs, for the Lodo Mondadori affair. Previously, the Cassation, in definitively condemning Fininvest to pay 494 million for pecuniary damages, referred the liquidation of non-pecuniary damages to another judge.

DIVORCE FROM VERONICA LARIO

Finally, the divorce from Veronica Lario, who allegedly asked for a single definitive check of 540 million euros to close the affair definitively.
