This is how Defense Minister Elisabetta Trenta retraces the story of the carabiniere who was transferred after his revelations during the trial.
The minister - answering a question presented to the Chamber - recalls having met the accused Casamassima (on 1 October 2018) who was subsequently also summoned by the general command of the Arma (on 7 November). Meetings then recounted by the interested party "in enthusiastic terms" on social networks, Trenta points out again. But then on Facebook “the same Casamassima has published 3 videos in which, in addition to publicly representing problems of a personal nature at the transfer to the Carabinieri pupils school in Rome, he expressed highly critical evaluations towards the institutions and other soldiers".
Not only. When he was serving in the XNUMXth Lazio Regiment he had "several times complained" of serving with a fellow defendant in the Cucchi trial and with another who expressed himself negatively on his testimony. And therefore he had indeed been transferred, "in order to allow him to operate with serenity in a new location equidistant from the place of residence with respect to the previous assignment, eliminating the situation of environmental and functional incompatibility". As for the new duties, Minister Trenta recalls that Casamassima "does not have particular specializations" and in the new headquarters he was assigned "in activities ordinarily devolved to the staff of the role of pinned officers and carabinieri".
Having made these clarifications, Trenta concludes as follows: "On a disciplinary level, it is confirmed that the soldier has been sanctioned for initiatives concerning improper use of social networks and for unauthorized dealings with the press”.
