Tax bills 2021, here is the extension: stop until 30 June

Stop the tax bills until June 30th. After weeks of waiting, the extension of the suspension, which expired on April 30, was included in one of the 77 articles of the Support decree Bis approved on May 20 by the Council of Ministers in order to give a new stimulus to the Italian economy grappling with the consequences of the pandemic, but above all to give more breathing space to the citizens most in difficulty.

TAX PAYMENTS

La suspension of tax bills it had been established and confirmed by the Government through the various decrees issued starting from 8 March (the first was Cura Italia), during the Covid-19 emergency. The latest stop came with the Sostegni decree which blocked notices and folders until 30 April 2021. A new extension was expected for early May, but the majority had failed to find the square on a measure involving around 35 million folders tax collectors. At the beginning of the month, the Ministry of the Economy had announced that a regulatory provision was "being defined" to be included in a decree that would extended the stop until May 31st.

With the Sostegni Bis decree comes a new suspension for another 2 months. No warnings and no folders until June 30th. It starts again from July 1st. Without this suspension, taxpayers and post offices would have been overwhelmed by millions of tax bills. In fact, the stop concerns all payments deriving from payment folders and debit notices and executive assessments, but also the sending of new folders and the initiation of procedures such as detentions, mortgages, foreclosures.

However, there is an important change: according to the provisions, any measures adopted or obligations performed by the Collection Agency remain valid between 1 May and the entry into force of the Sostegni Bis.

PLASTIC TAX

The Sostegni Bis decree also confirms the postponement of the entry into force of the plastic tax, the tax on single-use plastic consumption which should have arrived at the beginning of July 2021. To avoid burdening business turnover, the plastic tax will be postponed by another six months, until 1 January 2022.
