Carige, title suspended for the entire commissioner

The share of Banca Carige will be suspended on the Stock Exchange until the Genoese institution remains under extraordinary administration decided by the ECB. Consob decided it, who had already suspended negotiations on Carige yesterday after the news of the decay of the board of directors. "The management companies of the regulated markets and the managers of the multilateral trading systems implement the provisions of this resolution until the validity of the aforementioned decision adopted by the European Central Bank, or, until when, also following any further initiatives by the competent authorities for prudential supervision, a complete information framework on the securities issued or guaranteed by Banca Carige will not be restored”, underlines a note from the authority on the markets.

Yesterday the Frankfurt institute made the decision to place the Ligurian bank under extraordinary administration appointing three commissioners, including former president Pietro Modiano and former CEO Fabio Innocenzi, who will manage the bank in close contact with the Supervisory Authority. Meanwhile, Innocenzi clarified in an interview that there is no risk of bail-in and collapse: “There is absolutely no risk of this type. The institution is well capitalized and has clear governance. Asset photography is known. We had an important subordinated loan, underwritten by the Voluntary Scheme, which brought us in line with the bank's capital requirements and obligations. From this point of view, therefore, Carige is fine”, recalled the new extraordinary commissioner.

Regarding the discussions that will take place in the coming weeks with the Fitd in the light of the extraordinary administration ordered by the ECB, Innocenzi said in the interview: “It will be a reflection aimed at understanding how best to use this tool in the new scenario. There are numerous topics that we will have to deal with with the Voluntary Scheme. We had the operation together with them in November, in the hypothesis that a capital increase to be carried out in the spring would in fact lead to the exhaustion of this subordinated bond which would have been either converted or absorbed by the person taking the shares, then replaced. Today, however, there is a new scenario”.

The Government, for its part, is following the matter closely: "The vigilant attention of the Government, at its highest levels, is the tangible sign and the best guarantee for continuing and completing the asset consolidation and entrepreneurial strengthening of a banking company valued , by the same Government, as an essential tool for relaunching the entire Ligurian economic and social system”, reads the note issued by Palazzo Chigi.
