Carige: Malacalza on the field at the assembly for the rescue

None of the major shareholders will be missing on Friday 20 September at the Tower Hotel in Sestri Ponente, where it will be held the shareholders' meeting of Banca Carige called to approve the 900 million euro strengthening manoeuvre. The quorum of participants necessary to put resolutions to the vote (20%) was largely reached. The last day to deposit the shares is today, but more than 60% of the shareholders have already signed up.

Among these there is also Malacalza Investments, the relative majority shareholder with 27,5% which in December it derailed a previous recovery plan from 400 million. The participation of the first shareholder in the meeting has been uncertain for a long time: on the other hand, in the last four years Malacalza has invested 423 million euros in the Ligurian bank, so it immediately seemed unlikely that he could also reject this last bailout opportunity, making the bank fail and losing a lot of money.

They will also be present at the meeting Gabriel Volpi, second owner shareholder through its financial Lonestar of 9% of the capital, Raphael Mincione, which through Pop12 controls 5%, the Sga, a company of the Treasury Ministry which will acquire over 3 billion of non-performing loans and which holds just over 1% of Carige in its portfolio, and the family Spinelli, with 1%.

The plan of capital strengthening by 900 million total is divided into two operations: a capital increase of 700 million and a subordinated loan of 200 million.

All projects recapitalization, according to the scheme that has obtained the approval of the ECB, the voluntary scheme of the Interbank Fund (Svi) will participate for 313,2 million, for 63 million Cassa Centrale Banca and for 238,8 million from Fitd, which will guarantee the tranche of 85 million reserved for current shareholders.

For what concern bond, will end up in the stomachs of various subjects: 100 million will be subscribed by the CCB itself; 50 million, according to rumors, will go to Amissima, a company of the American Apollo fund which has already won the insurance sector of the Ligurian bank; 13 million will go to Medio Credito Centrale and 20 million to Credito Sportivo.
