The Carige Foundation will participate in the capital increase of Banca Carige for the entire share of its competence equal to 19%. This is what was established by the Ligurian body - according to what Radiocor learned - in the meeting of the administration and policy boards gathered in joint session today. In the next few days the Treasury Ministry will be asked for the green light to participate in the bank's operation which should start on Monday 16 June.
Since the beginning of the year, the sales of Carige shares, through which the stake has been reduced from approximately 46,5% to the current 19%, have brought 253 million into the coffers of the Foundation led by Paolo Momigliano. Approximately 152 million will be used to subscribe pro rata to the 800 million recapitalization of Carige. The remaining resources will be used above all to repay a tranche due (30 million) of the debt contracted with Mediobanca and for disbursements to the local area for which the Foundation has already committed itself.
However, given the debt position net of these repayments and above all the prospect of not receiving dividends from the bank in the short term, it is expected that the Foundation, in a phase following the completion of the capital increase, will evaluate a further reduction of the investment in Carige : the intention is to settle at 15% or, at most, to go down to 12%.
