Carige, Cimbri: "UnipolSai has sold its 3%"

UnipolSai sold its stake in Banca Carige, equal to approximately 3% of the share capital, the result of participation in the capital increase in the context of which the insurance company had converted a bond. The news was released today by the chairman of UnipolSai, Carlo Cimbri, during the company's shareholders' meeting.

"Today UnipolSai has no interest in Banca Carige - specified the manager - nor has it ever had any negotiations to purchase Carige's insurance".

Meanwhile, the shares of Banca Carige are racing in Piazza Affari (+2,44%, to 0,0084 euros) after the financier Raffaele Mincione said that the bank could be worth double or even triple if it agreed to be bought.

The rift between the new shareholder Mincione, who entered the bank's capital with a 5,4% stake, and the historic shareholder Vittorio Malacalza, who holds 20,6%, therefore widens.

Mincione made explicit reference to the entrepreneur from Piacenza, explaining that "Malacalza must have the humility to understand that one must be part of a larger group".
