Carige, Bank of Italy: 30 days to solve problems, 3 for now no sanctions

Observations have arrived from the Bank of Italy regarding three aspects: adjustments to loans, the need for capitalization and exit from the insurance sector – According to a director of Banca Carige, the institute “will have 30 days to make its counter-arguments. After that the procedure will run its course”.

“Loan adjustments, need for capitalisation, exit from the insurance sector”. These are the three points of the report by the Bank of Italy inspectors to the Carige board of directors which took place this morning during a board meeting that lasted over two hours. A councilor reports it to Radiocor. 

“The inspectors reiterated mostly known points and on which in some cases the Bank has already taken action – explained the source -. Credit and the issue of adjustments, the need for greater capitalisation, the exit from the insurance sector”.

As reported by the administrator, for the moment no sanctions have been indicated for the institute, which “will have 30 days to make its counter-arguments. After that the procedure will run its course”. 

Alessandro Repetto, former president of the Province of Genoa and resigned director, declined to comment on the rumors that indicated him as Berneschi's successor as president of the bank.
