Carige: Malacalza also leaves the Board

“Yesterday I announced to the Board of Directors of Banca Carige my intention to resign as director, reserving the right to formalize it later with detailed reasons”. This is what we read in a letter sent by Vittorio Malacalza to the Board of Directors of Banca Carige.

"I represented to the Board of Directors that this decision - continues Malacalza - was determined among other things by the recent resignations of other directors and by the contents of the same, as well as by the attempt by the Chief Executive Officer to delegitimize my role as substitute for the Chairman in the 'meeting with the press of last July 3, in which, instead of denying the voice of the ECB's supposed objections to this role of substitute, he accredited it with an evasive and ambiguous answer, in which he nonetheless affirmed the 'anomaly' of my position ”.

In recent weeks they had also resigned from the CD the president Giuseppe Tesauro and the advisers Stefano lunardiFrancesca Balzani.

“My decision – concludes Malacalza – was also determined by the disclosure of the interception of the telephone conversation between Mr. Luca Parnasi and Dr. Paolo Fiorentino, which has assumed particular significance for me in the light of the fact that the latter, just in the days immediately preceding the arrest of the lawyer Lanzalone told me he had met him, praising his professional qualities. In any case, I intend to continue to commit myself to Banca Carige, in full confidence in its potential for consolidation and relaunch thanks to the efforts of the shareholders who ensured the success of the recent capital increase, to the other capital strengthening operations already implemented, to the ability and dedication of its employees and the closeness and loyalty of its customers".

On Tuesday the Board he had postponed the convening of the shareholders' meeting requested by Raffaele Mincione for the renewal of the board of directors to a new ad hoc meeting.
