Cargo off the track, fear at Orio al Serio

Fear a Orio al Serio for the problematic landing of a cargo that went off the runway and invaded the nearby ring road. The incident took place at 4 in the morning but it was only known a few hours later when the National Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) communicated the incident, specifying that the airport was closed. The crew, consisting of the master and first officer, were unharmed. The airport has then reopened at 7 but many flights were canceled or rescheduled at Malpensa.

In the meantime, it was possible to reconstruct the dynamics of the accident. The cargo plane broke through the fence, invading part of the ring road that runs alongside the airport where, fortunately, nobody was passing. The Fire Brigade specified it, confirming that the three crew members were also unharmed. Some flights have been rescheduled at the Milan Malpensa airport. "ENAC - reports the national civil aviation agency - immediately informed the National Agency for Flight Safety (ANSV), the body in charge of technical investigations in the event of flight accidents and incidents".

Operations at the airport resumed at 6.47, the airport authorities said. The aircraft involved was the BCS 7332 arriving from Paris Charles De Gaulle chartered by DHL.

Chaos at the Bergamo airport – Boarding procedures slowed down and 15 Ryanair flights cancelled following the accident. In a note, the management company of the airport, Sacbo, then informed that “operations at the airport have resumed and the boarding procedures are proceeding, even in the presence of delays. The airport staff is providing assistance to departing passengers on canceled flights, within the limits of operational contingencies". These are the first 15 Ryanair flights in the morning, until 8.10, which left all passengers grounded following the accident. ENAC has invited passengers with scheduled flights to and from Bergamo to contact the relevant airlines and the airport management company to verify the operations of their flights.
