Jail for tax evaders, new deadline for 730, cut in VAT on sanitary pads for women, moratorium on anti-abandonment seats. There are many innovations included in the tax decree connected to the manoeuvre. After a long examination, the provision has obtained the go-ahead from the Finance Committee of the Chamber and by Monday it will pass in the Chamber for the first reading. The expected contribution to the balances of the maneuver amounts to almost six and a half billion.

The compromise reached on the increase in penalties for tax crimes, which provides for an easing of the sting on "occasional" crimes, i.e. committed without the explicit desire to defraud the tax authorities, was decisive for approval. However, the majority split: Italia Viva voted against

EXPIRY 730

An amendment to the tax decree rewrites the tax calendar: the deadline for the presentation of the 730 passes from 23 July to 30 September. The number of taxpayers who can use the 730 is also growing: in addition to employees and pensioners, it can also be presented by holders of income assimilated to that of employment and holders of income from occasional self-employment.

ANTI-ABANDONMENT SEATS

The tax decree then contains a moratorium until 6 March 2020 for those who have not yet installed anti-abandonment seats in their cars. The allocation foreseen for the concessions, which will come in the form of a tax credit, rises from one to 5 million euros.

TAX BUFFER

There is also the ok to cut the so-called "tampon tax". Thanks to an agreement found on Wednesday evening between seven MPs (led by Laura Boldrini) and the Minister of Economy, Roberto Gualtieri, the VAT on female sanitary towels will be cut from 22 to 5%, guaranteeing substantial savings for consumers. But be careful: the discount will only apply to compostable and biodegradable products. The government has undertaken to intervene with a reformulation of the VAT on other feminine hygiene products as well.

“We have just approved the repeal of the penalties for merchants who do not have a POS for credit/debit card payments”. The undersecretary of the Treasury, Alessio Villarosa (M5S) writes it.

EXTENSION OF DEBTS-CREDIT SETTINGS WITH THE PA

Reopened for 2019 and 2020 the compensation of commercial and professional credits that are not prescribed, certain, liquid and collectable, accrued towards the public administration, with tax bills entrusted to the collection agents by 31 October 2019.

180 MILLION FOR POLICE AND FIRE BRIGADE EXTRAORDINARY

Allocated 180 million euros to pay overtime for police and firefighters carried out before 2019 and not yet paid.
