M5S chaos: the internal rift grows after the expulsion of 2 parliamentarians

5 Star Movement increasingly at risk of splitting. They are the last purges decreed in the starry house. Beppe Grillo's movement, back from the rather disappointing regional elections in Emilia-Romagna and Calabria, continues to be divided internally and expels two other MPs for failing to report the expenses incurred on the portal specially managed by the blog staff. Thus, the number of Grillini parliamentarians rises to 22 (the previous 20 were 15 senators and 5 deputies) who left the parliamentary groups of the Chamber and Senate in various capacities. Indiscretions circulated yesterday speak of another dozen expulsions in sight even if they have not found official confirmation.

The pentastellati militants registered in Beppe Grillo's blog who participated in the vote on the expulsion of the deputies Massimo Artini and Paola Pinna from the Movement were 27.818 certified subscribers. The yeses were 19.436 equal to 69,8%, the no 8.382 equal to 30,2%. But the Grillina base inundated Beppe Grillo's blog with a deluge of messages (two thousand comments in a few hours) contesting the intransigent line of the boss and Roberto Casaleggio. Even if a part of the movement, the more orthodox, supports the hard line: "The infidels must not remain in the movement", others are asking for time. But the feeling is that a rift has been created in the M5S that is growing deeper as the hours go by. And that it is getting closer and closer to a split.

The procedure for the expulsion of the two deputies was started yesterday with the accusation of not having reported the expenses and repaid the money by paying it to the fund for SMEs. “It's a summary execution, but they couldn't find a worse pretext than this. The wire transfers are there, they can be found on my blog and on Facebook”, comments Paola Pinna. A delegation of deputies led instead by the other excluded, Massimo Artini, met Grillo yesterday evening to get "clarifications".

“Those who do not return part of their salary like everyone else – writes Grillo – not only violate the code of conduct of M5S parliamentary citizens, but also prevent unemployed young people from having further job opportunities as well as betraying a pact with the voters. The citizens deputies Massimo Artini and Paola Pinna have been violating for too long the code of conduct of the M5S MPs on the return of part of the salary freely subscribed at the time of their candidacy, without whose acceptance they would not have been candidates".
