“Cantiere del '900” is enriched with a work by Scaccabarozzi

The Intesa Sanpaolo collection, as part of the Cantiere del '900 project, is enriched by the work Injection-Delimitation by Antonio Scaccabarozzi (Merate-Lecco, 1936 – Santa Maria Hoè-Lecco, 2008), thanks to a donation from Anastasia Rouchota, the artist's widow as well as founder and director of the Archive.

The work belongs to the Measure/Distance typology, a term chosen by the Antonio Scaccabarozzi Archive to embrace and understand a broad cycle of the artist's work begun between the end of the Seventies and the beginning of the following decade, aimed at exploring the concept and the methods of measuring painting in all possible directions, with particular attention to the relationship between calculation and randomness, programmatic measurement of the elements constituting the work and reaction of these elements in their dialogue.

An exponent of analytical and conceptual pictorial research, in over forty years of activity he has developed a language aimed at analyzing the fundamentals of the visual through a phenomenological-mathematical investigation of painting and color in space, declining it in works that, starting from the 80s make it unique in the Italian and international scene. Primarily known in the northern European area, and exhibited there and invited to the main institutional exhibition occasions, Scaccabarozzi today constitutes an interesting point of reference in the reconstruction of cultural geographies between the 70s and 90s, having in a certain sense played the role of ambassador of Italian painting between Switzerland, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, reflecting on the meaning of the monochrome, the zeroing and the ontology of painting in its space-time and perceptive-environmental relationship, developing a personal investigation, with absolutely contemporary developments.
Scaccabarozzi returns to Italy on several occasions, frequenting the protagonists of the post-war period, from Lucio Fontana to Enrico Castellani, from Paolo Scheggi to Sandro De Alexandris, from Paolo Minoli to Luciano Fabro, collaborating with Studio Casoli and exhibiting at the Ferrari Galleries in Verona , Lorenzelli in Bergamo and the Galleria del Cavallino in Venice.

Lee's works are held in important international public and private collections.

The work will be presented to the public on Thursday 3 May at 18,30
Galleries of Italy – Piazza Scala (free admission).
