Canova, master of Neoclassicism in Cinema

Canova, is the sixth title of the L'arte al cinema season produced by Magnitudo Film and distributed in Italy by Magnitudo Film with CHILI. A film dedicated to Antonio Canova, sculptor and painter of Neoclassicism, also nicknamed "the new Fidia".

Antonio Canova was born in Possagno (Treviso) in 1757, where today it is possible to admire his house, now the seat of the “Gipsoteca Canovian" who recently sees the presidency Vittorio Sgarbi and the "Temple",a church designed by the sculptor inspired by the Pantheon in Rome. Son of a stonemason, he began his apprenticeship in Venice and then began traveling throughout Europe and in 1779 he moved permanently to Rome.

The cinematographic documentary traces his history, from Venice and passing through France, England, Russia and above all Rome, but without ever leaving Possagno, his native town. 8K HDR shooting techniques they will reveal little-known details and above all they will show Canova's own point of view told by the voice of those who know his masterpieces perfectly, Vittorio Sgarbi, President of the Canova Foundation of Possagno and Mario Guderzo, Director of the Antonio Canova Museum and Gipsoteca of Possagno.
