Negotiations on the expansion of the Panama Canal connection are abruptly interrupted at the behest of the local Authority. This was announced by the consortium led by the Spanish company Sacyr, of which Salini Impregilo is a member. The Italian group immediately accused a Business Square, where around 10 o'clock it loses more than 2% a 4,242 euro.
According to the Grupo Unidos por el Canal (Gupc) consortium, the interruption of the negotiations puts at risk the extension of the Canal and, consequently, up to 10.000 jobs. Gupc added that, despite the halt in negotiations, it will continue to seek a solution. "Without an immediate solution", the Gupc statement reads, "Panama and the Canal Authority will face years of disputes in national and international courts on the reasons that have brought the project close to failure".
