SERIE A CHAMPIONSHIP – Another last resort for Superpippo: Milan seeks redemption with Verona

Here we go again. Filippo Inzaghi finds himself again on the last call, for himself and for his Milan. The match against Verona (at 20.45 pm) is in fact impossible to make a mistake, on pain of saying goodbye to the remaining hopes of the Europa League and, probably, also to the Rossoneri bench. The turning point can no longer be postponed, as Galliani reiterated to Inzaghi himself this week.

Nobody in the Milan house would really like to get the exemption, partly out of affection for the coach and, above all, due to the lack of alternatives. Which, inevitably, would be internal: Tassotti or, alternatively, Brocchi. In short, the hope is that the team will beat Verona and then really try to get back on top. “The way both the players and I work we can walk with our heads held high – Inzaghi's words. – I hope that the club continues to trust me, then it is clear that I will be evaluated for the results. I just hope the team doesn't get influenced, we can play a good game." Everyone in the Rossoneri environment wishes it, aware that the time has come to win, possibly convincing. In fact, 2015 saw a lack of results and a lack of play which, as is well known, angered President Berlusconi, who has always been a lover of show football. It must also be said that Milan had (and continues to have) objective training problems: a question of injuries, an emergency that shows no sign of ending.

“I don't want them to become an alibi, but it's useless to deny that they went hand in hand with our difficulties – explained Inzaghi. – De Jong and Montolivo, for example, are very important, in any case whoever takes the field will have to try to win at all costs”. In short, no excuses, only results. The coach will try to get out of the crisis by relying on his usual formation, that 4-3-1-2 which, albeit with alternating current, has given decent answers. The problems, as always, concern defense and midfield.

In front of Diego Lopez will play Bonera, Paletta, Bocchetti and Antonelli while in the middle, to replace the unavailable De Jong and Montolivo, it will be Poli, Van Ginkel and Bonaventura, with the Dutch slightly favorite over Essien. Abundance on the other hand in attack, it is no coincidence that Inzaghi will field the best trident possible: Menez attacking midfielder behind Destro and Cerci. Eyes on the former Atletico Madrid, back owner after the crumbs collected in recent weeks.

“I wanted it and he will certainly be able to give us a hand – commented the coach. – Having said that, a single cannot make the difference, it will have to be Milan's match, not his ”. Opposite there will be a Verona refreshed by the success of Cagliari but not yet completely calm. “I know very well how they will play, they will act in the restart leaning on Toni” commented Inzaghi. We'll see if that's the case, meanwhile Mandorlini seems oriented towards fielding a rather offensive team, with Halfredsson and Tachtsidis supporting the Gomez-Toni-Jankovic trio.
