SERIE A CHAMPIONSHIP - Fiorentina show, Inter disaster

Fiorentina show, Inter disaster. It was supposed to be the game of consecration, the one that could have launched the Nerazzurri towards a run for victory, instead the sky above San Siro was tinged with purple. Now it is Paulo Sousa's team that commands the standings, albeit in cohabitation with Inter itself: a sign of great solidity, but also of a championship without bosses. Never like this year the big ones are struggling and, consequently, there are so many who dream of the coup.

To date, Fiorentina is the revelation, but it is also right to remember Turin (13 points), Sassuolo (12), even the much reviled Lazio (12), without forgetting Sampdoria (were they to beat Atalanta they would go to 13 like the grenade ). Mancini's Inter comes out downsized, not so much for the standings (15 points after 6 days remain an excellent haul) but for the methods of defeat. Losing against Fiorentina could also be okay, but the 1-4 draw at San Siro is a bad blow and risks demolishing the certainties acquired so far.

“Nothing changes for us, let's congratulate our opponents and move forward – commented Mancini. – There are matches that start badly, this one went badly right away and ended when there were 10 of us left. In any case, we were down to earth even before, we shouldn't be interested in comments from outside”. The British reaction of the coach from Jesi is striking, but even more that of Paulo Sousa, the great winner of the evening.

“We don't think about the Scudetto, there are teams better equipped than us – his thought. – However we do not hold back, we work to try to win against anyone ”. Since yesterday, Italian football has become aware, perhaps definitively, of this Portuguese coach who arrived quietly and was able to win 5 games out of 6. His team, until yesterday, had never enchanted for the express game but this victory definitely changes judgments.

It must also be said that Inter have given their contribution, in particular Handanovic. The Slovenian goalkeeper, after just 4', made it big by "giving away" a penalty to the Viola, which Ilicic coldly converted. Then Nikola Kalinic took the chair, since yesterday evening officially in the heart of all the Florentine fans. The Croatian was the real star of the match and not just for the hat-trick. In addition to the goals (18', 23' and 76') it caused the expulsion of Miranda (31'), effectively sanctioning the Viola success already in the first half.

Inter failed to strike up any type of reaction, limiting themselves to the flag point with Icardi (60'). There is no need to make drama but perhaps, after such a debacle, not even to talk about the Scudetto. If the Nerazzurri are so high today it is also the fault of the other big names, none excluded. The championship, which has become very open again after years of Juve domination, benefits from this, the overall quality of the game is a little less. Everyone has problems, everyone can aim for the podium. An unwritten law that, apparently, will keep us entertained until the end.
