Serie A Championship: Rome pierced by the Bull, now it's a crisis

Now it's official: Rome is in crisis. The Giallorossi come out with broken bones from the lunch match in Turin, making up for the second consecutive away defeat and moving away by 5 points from leaders Juventus. A disturbing scenario for Spalletti's team, once again in crisis due to defensive mistakes that have already cost them dearly in the Champions League: with 3 yesterday, they have conceded 8 goals in just 6 league matches, far too many for those who say they want to aim for high.

“We stretched ourselves too far, we weren't able to keep the right distances – the analysis of the Giallorossi coach. – In the last period we have too many ups and downs, we need to be more lucid from a mental point of view. I take my responsibility for what happened."

In short, the leitmotif does not change, with Spalletti taking the blame and pointing to Roma's real big problem in his head. From the outside, however, the technical failures are also evident, especially in defense. Absent Vermaelen, the coach left out the unwatchable Juan Jesus of recent times by inserting Fazio alongside Manolas, with Florenzi on the right and Bruno Peres on the left.

However, the move did not change the final product: the Giallorossi continued to concede too many goals, moreover without showing a minimum of compactness in the two phases. And so, on a day when Salah and Dzeko are uninspired, it is inevitable to suffer the athletic brilliance of Turin, finally in the image and likeness of its coach Sinisa Mihajlovic.

“It was the best game of the season, 11 bulls were on the field – confirmed the Serbian. – Three goals, a post, another 4 or 5 chances: there's no doubt, the victory is deserved”. The first grenade goal came after just 8', with Belotti good at stealing the time from the Fazio-Bruno Peres duo and heading in behind Szczesny.

In the second half Spalletti, evidently encouraged by the previous ones, tried to overturn the inertia of the match by inserting Totti in place of De Rossi but the move, this time, didn't work. In fact, it was Turin who found the goal with Iago Falque, executioner of his former teammates thanks to a penalty obtained by the usual Belotti (52 ').

Three minutes later, however, the match reopened with Totti, who was also precise and cool from 11 metres: for the Captain it was his 250th goal in Serie A, two days after his birthday. But the gift didn't help to put Roma back in the game, which actually ended up unbalancing themselves further and leaving huge prairies for the grenades.

On one of these here is the 3-1 goal scored again by Iago Falque, this time with the complicity of Fazio's deflection. Victory also legitimized by the subsequent occasions of Toro (above all Zappacosta and Martinez), in the face of a Roma who tried more with individuals than with team maneuvers. Spalletti left the field disconsolate and for good reason: if he doesn't find the right recipe (and quickly too), the risk of failing the season will soon become a reality.
