SERIE A CHAMPIONSHIP – Roma conquered Bologna and chased Juve by supporting Toro

And now Roma support Toro. Because with last night's success in Bologna (0-1), Garcia's team moves to -6 from leaders Juventus, with one game to recover. A precious bonus, provided that the Bianconeri slow down their (so far) unstoppable march. In any case, Roma made the best of him, thus allowing themselves the enviable condition of looking at their opponents without regrets. Dall'Ara wasn't an easy match, partly due to the inevitable pressures of those who live by chasing, partly due to training problems. The real death of full-backs (even Torosidis withdrew) forced Garcia to present a totally new defense, with the revived Taddei on the right and the young Romagnoli, central defender, diverted to the left. Complicated situation that, at least at the beginning, seems to help Bologna. The hosts, without Perez, start strong and come close to scoring with a lob from Bianchi. But Roma are the real team and in the 19th minute they have the sensational chance to take the lead: Destro's shot beats Curci, but the ball hits the post and goes out after dancing all along the goal line.

It is only the prelude to the goal, which arrives in the 36th minute when Pjanic, increasingly indispensable, brushes in a cross that Nainggolan just has to push into the net. For the Belgian it is the first joy in the Giallorossi shirt, a net heavy as a boulder. Because in the second half Roma, after coming close to 2-0 (Destro disallowed for just offside), decided to manage the result, without however giving up the counter-attack. Garcia's changes proved to be decisive: Pjanic and Destro out, the substantial Strootman and the eclectic Bastos in. The hinge works well and Bologna is only dangerous on set pieces, which create more than one problem for the Giallorossi team (Mantoni's header just misses). The restarts, however, work wonderfully, and Taddei first and then Bastos fail to score the goal of tranquillity. That doesn't arrive, but it doesn't matter: after the fear (header by Christodoulopoulos in full recovery just out) Roma are left with three points as heavy as boulders. “It's a very important success and this is what counts – Garcia thought at the press conference. – We managed the first half well and suffered in the final, but we were good at not conceding goals. Now let's look at Juventus, anything can happen in derbies." The French coach wishes it and with him all of Roma Giallorossi. Who, victory after victory, believes more and more in the Scudetto dream.
