Serie A championship: Milan rises again, beats Fiorentina 2-0 and becomes sixth

The roar of Milan! The Rossoneri beat Fiorentina and raised their heads after a difficult period, which however ended with two consecutive victories between the Italian Cup and the championship. Once again Sinisa Mihajlovic is saved in the most complicated moment, the one in which the mistakes would not have been forgiven, testifying to an iron character, stronger than internal and external criticisms. With these 3 points, the standings, albeit still lacking, take on quite a bit of substance: now the points from fifth-placed Rome are only 3 and even third place, currently occupied by Inter, is no longer so unattainable.

There are a lot of 8 points that separate Milan from the Nerazzurri but the derby will take place in two weeks and who knows if the scenarios might dramatically change. On the other hand, Paulo Sousa's Fiorentina were rejected, disembarked at San Siro to attack the podium and returned to Florence with broken bones and many questions. Could the splendid toy admired so far be broken, or at least cracked? The question is legitimate given that the Viola have collected their second consecutive defeat and have sunk to fourth place.

For once it is Mihajlovic who smiles: the ghost Marcello Lippi, warned for some time to take over the Rossoneri bench, can go back to the attic. “I'm very satisfied, we played a careful match, of great sacrifice and substance – his thought at the press conference. – The victory is deserved, Fiorentina had always scored up to now but this time they failed". Understandable joy that of the Serbian coach, because last night his Milan finally showed play and character, which have always been the prerogatives of the Berlusconi family.

What made the difference was the attitude: this time the Rossoneri approached the match well, immediately finding the opening goal. Once again, Carlos Bacca was decisive, very good at jumping Tomovic and beating the innocent Tatarusanu (4'). The Viola never managed to make themselves dangerous throughout the first half, then in the second half they raised the center of gravity, almost equalizing with Kalinic, however imprecise at the time of the conclusions.

Milan contained their opponents without however giving up on counterattacks and the 2-0 came precisely on one of these with Boateng, launched by Kucka face to face with Tatarusanu for an easy double (88'). At the final whistle in Doveri, the Rossoneri smile again while the Viola lick their wounds from a just but unexpected defeat. The umpteenth chapter of this crazy championship, really impossible to predict.
