SERIE A CHAMPIONSHIP – Milan are shipwrecked with Lazio, Inter are looking for a comeback in Turin

Il collapse of Milan. We'll only understand if the Rossoneri have hit rock bottom or there's still room to get worse on Tuesday, when they meet Lazio again in the Coppa Italia, but yesterday's defeat certainly represents the lowest point of the current season. A disaster from all points of view: technical (18 to 2 the total calculation of shots), tactical (team unable to produce a game), physical (the opponents always arrive first on the ball), nervous (the shameful final scene by Mexes ). Of course, he's in the dock Filippo Inzaghi, at this point increasingly at risk exemption. Until Tuesday, the coach is not discussed but if he were to go badly in the Italian Cup (at this point the only real goal left) here is that Via Aldo Rossi could opt for the turnaround. “I'm going on with my job, if I thought I didn't have the team in hand I would have already resigned – explained the person concerned after the match. – The players follow me and give everything but obviously it's not enough. Now we will focus on Tuesday's match, which is fundamental for us. We don't have to make excuses, we will have to see much more Milan ".

In the meantime, however, the tension is increasingly high: after the game coach and team were kept in touch by Galliani for over an hour, a sign of a situation far beyond the limit of normality. And to say that the match had gone well, indeed very well. After risking conceding a penalty (very suspicious contact between Bonaventura and Radu), the Rossoneri took the lead with Lead, good at exploiting a blunder by Biglia and beating Marchetti with a nice left foot (4'). Scenario almost the same as that of two weeks ago in Turin, and just like against the grenade, Milan's match ended there. In fact, from that moment only Lazio played, several times close to a draw with Klose and Candreva and enraged with the referee Mazzoleni for another borderline contact (Mexes' hold on Mauri). What differs from Turin above all is that the wall, if you can call it that, came down much earlier. Indeed, in the 47th minute Parolo he made it 1-1 with a left footed volley and four minutes later Klose, launched by a sensational blunder by Montolivo, reversed the result with a close right foot. Inzaghi tried to wake up his squad by changing players (Bonaventura and Van Ginkel out, Cerci and Pazzini in) and formation (from 4-3-3 to 4-2-3-1) but by now the omelette was done. At 81 'the Lazio also found the third goal (Parolo again, this time with the right) thus fixing the final result. Milan? All in the madness of Mexes, who in the 90th minute performed a sort of OK Corral with Mauri punished with a sacrosanct expulsion (shortly after the French appeared in front of the cameras to apologize). The balance is disastrous: 10th place in the standings, 8 points behind Lazio third (but if Napoli beat Genoa on Monday they would become 10), the same from Chievo third last.

Today, however, it's up toInter, which never before relies on Roberto Mancini to attempt the run-up to the Champions League area. The points that separate them from Lazio are 8: many, but not too many when there is still an entire group to play ahead, provided that the margin of error is almost completely reduced. That's why the match against Turin (15 pm) could represent an important crossroads for the Nerazzurri season, in one sense or another. “We want to start the second round well, we believe in it – said Mancini. – The margins of error are minimal for those who are chasing, so we have to start well. Toro are an excellent team with a great coach, that's why I want the concentration to be maximum”. Yes, because in the last few days there has been very little talk about the grenade at Inter: the transfer market is "fault" which, despite expectations, is seeing the Nerazzurri in the very first row. After Podolski and Shaqiri also arrived Marcelo Brozovic (today in the stands), a 22-year-old Croatian midfielder who is good at both setting up and defending, whom Ausilio snatched from Dinamo Zagreb for 8 million (payable in several tranches). Then the surprises may not be finished yet: we are talking about Jeison Murillo, Colombian defender of Granada (another 8 million) and one between Lassana Diarra and Lucas Leiva, always at the center of Mancio's thoughts. Who, in cohabitation with Ausilio, is already working for next season as well. The Inter of the future could get rich with Lavezzi (total break with Blanc but PSG will only sell him in the summer) and Yaya Touré (the Ivorian wants new experiences), real top players. However, it is clear that all this grandeur comes from the Champions League, a sine qua non for the development of the project. Otherwise, in fact, the club will be forced to sell some valuable pieces (Handanovic? Icardi?) to recoup the investments made, which would bring Nerazzurri Milan back into despair. This and much more will be discussed by Mancini and Thohir, who landed in Italy to follow the last days of the transfer market live, as well as, of course, the match against Turin. The Nerazzurri have to do without Campagnaro (fatigue in his right calf), Juan Jesus and Medel (suspended) as well as Osvaldo, whose affair risks ending in court. In fact, the attacker, officially suspended by Inter after unjustified absences at the beginning of the week, has taken legal steps which, paradoxically, risks compromising the transfer market. We'll see, in the meantime Mancini certainly can't complain about the lack of alternatives: up front, after the recent purchases, abundance reigns. Today the bench could fall to Kovacic, not at his best after the efforts of the Italian Cup, by virtue of Palacio, who would act as playmaker in the usual 4-2-3-1. In defense the novelty is represented by Ranocchia, author of a flash recovery and therefore again able and enlistable: the central will be paired with Vidic. The simultaneous presence of Podolski and Shaqiri is also probable, even if, Mancini dixit, the Swiss does not yet have 90 minutes in his legs. Ventura will respond with the classic 3-5-2 in which Quagliarella and Maxi Lopez (both scored in Cesena last Sunday) will have the task of worrying the Nerazzurri defence.
