Serie A championship, Milan flop: only equal with Cinderella Verona (1-1)

Disheartening home draw (1-1) for the Rossoneri who don't win even with the bottom of the class - Bacca deludes, a penalty from Toni extinguishes dreams - Mihajlovic takes it out on the referee for two goals unjustly disallowed and a penalty not granted but Milan's game disappointed even more than the result – Now the Rossoneri are seventh

Serie A championship, Milan flop: only equal with Cinderella Verona (1-1)

One flop leads to another. There is no peace for Mihajlovic's Milan, who after drawing against the penultimate Carpi repeated against bottom Verona, what's more at the San Siro. Disheartening result, just like the rain of boos that fell on the Rossoneri at the end of the match. It was supposed to be redemption Sunday, in which to approach the European zone (speaking of the Champions League, frankly, makes no sense) and rediscover a pinch of happiness. It has turned into the lowest point of Mihajlovic's management and not only as seen on the pitch.

“I never talk about the referees but they are damaging us – the explosion of the Serbian coach. – They disallowed two regular goals and denied us a penalty on Bonaventura: I don't want to be considered a fool, so I'm not in”. Not that the episodes mentioned prove him wrong (the offsides in question didn't exist and Marquez's push on Bonaventura was well beyond the allowed limit), it's just that it's strange to justify a home draw against Verona by talking about the referee. And in fact the club, while revealing a certain annoyance at Valeri's work, preferred not to comment at all.

On the thread that runs between Arcore and Via Aldo Rossi there is above all the dissatisfaction with a bad classification (seventh place at -7 from the Champions area) and with an even worse game, strongly underlined by the (few) fans present at the stadium. The Rossoneri could have won but the substance would not have changed: this way you won't go to the Champions League and, most likely, not even to the Europa League. The team's problem is above all mental and this is Mihajlovic's greatest fault: none of his tough and winning mentality reached the group.

Milan seems to suffer particularly from the so-called "easy games", those in which victories are not an option but an obligation. It had already happened against Carpi and yesterday history repeated itself with Verona, last in the standings and still without victories. The Rossoneri got off to a good start and then faded away, so much so that the first whistles from San Siro arrived at the end of the first half. In the second, the episode that could erase fears: an assist from Luiz Adriano for Bacca and the ball into the net right under the Curva Sud (52'). All downhill? Not a chance.

In the 57th minute the wheel turned completely: foul by De Jong on Greco, penalty (converted by Toni) and expulsion. Mihajlovic tried to reinvigorate him by removing Luiz Adriano (who knows why…), Niang and Montolivo for Kucka, Bertolacci and Cerci but the result, thanks to a pinch of bad luck, remained 1-1. A point that is worth very little for Milan, who are forced to put aside their dreams of glory and concentrate on the bitter reality: Europe is far away and what is worse, it is hard to see how it could get closer.
