Sampdoria proves to be the true bete noire of the Italian champions Juve who, like in the first leg, left Marassi the three points to Delio Rossi's team who prevailed 3-2. first took the lead thanks to a splendid goal by Quagliarella primed by Pirlo and everything suggested that they would have easily regulated Sampdoria. But, thanks to a penalty generously awarded by the referee for a questionable foul by Chiellini on Icardi, the Ligurians were able to equalize already in the first half through Eder.
Surprisingly in the second half, Sampdoria took the lead with a strange shot by De Franceschi and, on the counterattack, struck for the third time with the Argentine Icardi. Only in the final did the Italian champions shake up and shorten the distance with Giaccarini. But nothing to do with the final result.
Out of six points up for grabs in this championship, Sampdoria takes all six away from Juve and scores full points, concluding their season on a high note. For Juve it is the fifth defeat in a tournament, albeit largely dominated.
