CHAMPIONSHIP - Juve consolidate their leadership by beating Chievo (2-0) with a brace from Quagliarella

Simply unstoppable. Juventus also beat Chievo and, pending the results of Naples and Lazio, took the top of the standings on their own. An important victory, obtained through a performance that would have deserved a much more rounded result, in spite of post-Champions fatigue and doubts relating to turnover. Yes, because as widely expected, Juventus 2 took the field at the Stadium: off Barzagli, Lichtsteiner, Pirlo, Vidal and Giovinco, on Lucio, Isla, Pogba, Giaccarini and Quagliarella. A whirlwind of changes to make everyone's head spin. but it seemed like the owners were there on the pitch. From the outset, the black and whites hammered a confused and resigned Chievo, as if they were afraid of ruining the party at the Stadium, as usual sold out.

Juve thanked and charged headlong, but Quagliarella, Giaccarini and Asamoah slammed into the Sorrentino wall several times, the only one from Chievo worthy of note. The Gialloblù goalkeeper saves everything, and when he doesn't get there, the linesman takes care of annulling Vucinic's goal for a (fair) offside. In the second half, the script does not change and when Sorrentino rejects Chiellini's header, Juventus Turin comes back to life the ghosts of last season, when Chievo managed to impose two draws in as many games. But to mess up the plans Quagliarella thinks about it, who in this period could easily score even blindfolded. The Neapolitan striker doesn't like easy goals and once again he doesn't deny himself: first he unlocks the match with a bicycle kick (63rd minute), then leaves an astonished Dainelli in place and scores the 2-0 goal (68th). The Stadium goes crazy with joy and sings the chorus for Super Fabio (on the notes of what the Neapolitans sang for Maradona...), to which Carrera gives the standing ovation (by virtue of Bendtner, making his debut with the black and white jersey).

A special week for Quagliarella, who went from fifth striker to top player in three days: “It's definitely one of the best weeks of my career, today I had to show I'm ready and I think I did. The standing ovation? It's obviously nice and I thank the fans. Owner with Fiorentina? We'll see, I'll be ready, but the coach will decide." Quagliarella flies low, but it is clear that he will hardly leave the team, as hinted by Massimo Carrera: “We will see, but he is actually going through a good moment. We got positive responses, it wasn't easy to win against this Chievo, we were good at having patience and finding victory. Now we can start preparing for Florence, let's think about one game at a time".
