Campidoglio, Marino ahead of Alemanno but certain ballot

For now, the only certainty is that there will be a runoff but it is clear that the Democratic Party candidate has distanced himself more than expected from the outgoing mayor - De Vito's debacle and Marchini's probable overcoming

Campidoglio, Marino ahead of Alemanno but certain ballot

The two days of politics are drawing to a close and, although there are still no definitive data on the results, it is not difficult to fine-tune the scenario left to us by these local elections. In Rome, the centre-left cornered the outgoing Pidiellino mayor: Marino however won a battle and not the war, in fact the run-off (to be held on 8 and 9 June) is now inevitable. According to the Piepoli projections for Rai and also according to the Tecné projections for Sky Tg24, the candidate Ignazio Marino has exceeded the 40% threshold and Gianni Alemanno is slightly behind the 30%.

The debacle of the 5 Star Movement and its candidate for the Capitol is clear to everyone: Marcello De Vito. He would have taken about 12% according to Piepoli and 11% according to Tecnè. The institute that informs Sky Tg24 gives Alfio Marchini a slight advantage over the grillino candidate.

"Administrative elections are something else than politics - said Stefano Zaghis, of the staff of the Movimento 5 Stelle - what is certain is that the Movement enters the municipal council of Rome, in all the municipalities, and from there it will start a path. It is the beginning of a transformation and it will be necessary to work and make oneself known”. Alemanno's committee let it be known that "the only certain fact is that 99% of us will get to the ballot". According to Vincenzo Piso (of the PDL), "on 9-10 June we will have a second half of this match which will be a completely different story". Marino said he was satisfied with the results, which are provisional for now.
