Campari exits the still wine business

The transaction is related to last year's sale of wineries in Italy and Chile. From now on, the group will focus strongly on the spirits business

Gruppo Campari announced that it has sold, for 20,5 million euro, the French wines Chateau de Sancerre a Ackerman House, wine division of Earthly, a company based in France and operating in various sectors of the agricultural industry.

The winery, founded in 1919 and with more than 55 hectares of vineyards, had entered the assets of the Campari Group in the context of the acquisition of Grand Marnier, completed in June 2016.

The sale, which follows those of the wineries in Italy and Chile completed in the last year, is part of the Group's economic-financial plan, described thus by the CEO Kunze-Concewitz: "With the sale agreement, the Campari Group completely exits from the still wine business, in line with the strategy aimed at rationalize non-strategic activities and increase the focus on the core business of spirits”.

The business just sold, in addition to the wines Sancerre, also includes buildings, vineyards, winemaking and production facilities. In the last year the winery recorded net sales equal to 3,5 million euros.
