Campari buys the French Bisquit Cognac for 52,5 million euros

The Italian group has announced the acquisition of Bisquit Dubouchè et Cie, a French brand of the South African group Distell. After Grand Marnier, Campari continues to focus on transalpine brands.

The company founded in 1819 and owner of the famous Bisquit Cognac brand was sold for a total of 52,5 million, save price adjustment mechanisms. The closing of the transaction is scheduled for January 2nd.

For the French brand, a level of pro-forma sales estimated at around 9 million is expected in 2018.

In the operation, Campari also acquired the inventories, including the maturing stock valued at a good 33 million euros, the brands, the production plants and the bottling lines.

Campari continues with its repositioning strategy, focused on simplifying the offer. The attention of top management has shifted to the "premium spirits" sector, as evidenced by the cutting of activities related to still wines and the sales of Lemonsoda brands and Oransoda.

The stock gains 0,4% in Milan, on a bad day for Piazza Affari.
