Campania: appeal accepted, De Luca remains governor

Vincenzo De Luca he will be able to continue to exercise his function as president of the Campania region. The civil court of Naples, in fact, accepted the appeal of the new governor for the suspension of the effects of the Severino law. De Luca's suspension had already been frozen with an emergency provision of last July 2, confirmed by the civil court which "provisionally accepted the precautionary request".

The effects of the Severino law, therefore, are suspended "until the resumption of the precautionary proceedings following the definition of the questions of constitutional legitimacy", as stated in the sentence of the Civil Court of Naples. The civil case has been suspended and the documents have been sent to the Constitutional Court and only following the decision of the Consulta will the civil proceeding be able to restart.

Understandably satisfied was Governor De Luca, who in a note expressed his joy at the court's decision to confirm the suspension: "A beautiful page of Justice to all the credit of the Neapolitan judiciary, to whom I pay honour".
