The Chamber saves 47 million and gives it back to the State

It is the largest restitution ever made by Deputies – Overall in the current legislature, between restitutions and fewer endowments required for the functioning of the Chamber, the state budget has saved 270 million.

In 2016, the Chamber of Deputies will return 47 million euros to the State, the largest repayment ever made by Montecitorio.

This is what emerges from the 2015 final account and from the change note to the 2016-2018 budget approved by the Presidency's office.

Overall, according to what can be read in the note, in the current legislature between restitutions and fewer endowments required for the functioning of the Chamber, the state budget has saved 270 million.

Net of social security expenditure and the restitution to the State Budget, the expenditure for the functioning of the Chamber this year will be equal to 562,5 million, approximately nine million less than in 2015. "The comparison of this figure - reads the press release - with that relating to the parliaments of the main European countries, net of social security expenditure which does not burden the budgets of various foreign parliaments, and comparing homogeneous expenditure aggregates, shows how the expenditure for the functioning of the Chamber is lower than the expenditure of the Bundestag and the House of Commons”.
