The increasingly digital registry office. After an initial experimental phase of application that began on 1 February, from Wednesday 27 April on online service to ask with a simple click the Change of residence extended to all of Italy. For the first time, it will be possible to apply online to move one's residence from one municipality to another in the country or in the same and to certify the repatriation from abroad. To do this, simply access the portal of the National Registry of the resident population (Anpr). A digital revolution that adds to the possibility of download 14 different birth certificates autonomously and free of charge – the stamp duty is no longer paid – from 15 November.
Change of residence online: how it works
The new service allows adult citizens registered in the National Registry to apply via the website in two specific cases: change of residence for transfer from any municipality to another in the country, or repatriation from abroad for Italian citizens enrolled in Aire (Registry of Italians residing abroad) and change residence in the same municipality on the national territory.
However, your own password is required to access the National Registry portal digital identity (Electronic identity card, Spid, or the National Service Card). You must then complete the registration request online for yourself and for the members of your family and send it automatically to the competent municipality, following the instructions published in the service area.
The types of requests for the change of residence online
The request may concern both a transfer to a new home, even where there are already people with whom you do not have kinship or emotional ties (indicated with the item "new residence"), or to a home where there are people with whom there are kinship or emotional ties, indicating one of the members of the family in which one becomes part (with the wording "residence in an existing family"). Once inside the area, you can also consult the progress of the request presented and indicate an email to receive updates.
The National Resident Population Registry project
The Anpr project was born from an initiative of the Ministry of the Interior and its implementation was entrusted to Sogei – technological partner of the economic-financial administration – which also oversaw the development of the new portal. The Department for Digital Transformation of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers is in charge of the technical-operational coordination of the initiative. It should be remembered that on 18 January the process of migrating all the municipal registers into the national register was completed: a single digital database was created which collects the personal data of 67 million Italians.
Citizens residing in the 7.904 municipalities of the country and Italians residing abroad registered with Aire can verify and request any correction of their data through the online rectification service and obviously the 14 birth certificates, namely: birth, marriage, citizenship, existence in life, residence, AIRE residence, family status and marital status, residence in cohabitation, AIRE family status, family status with kinship relationships, free status, civil union registry and of cohabitation contract.
