Revenues up 8,4% for Caltagirone Spa: 707,1 million euros, mainly the result of the performance of the group companies operating in the cement and large-scale construction sectors, while the publishing sector is still feeling the effects of the crisis.
Margins were down, with gross operating profit standing at 63,6 million (from 66,6 million, -4,6%) and the operating result which was instead equal to 15 million (down from 17,1 million). The net result for the period attributable to the Group is negative by 2,9 million, but marks an improvement compared to -12,3 million a year ago. The net financial position improved from -75,1 million as at 31 December 2010 to -70,7 million.
The press release in which the group provides the data for the half year also contains forecasts for the rest of 2011: "In the cement sector, the positive signals recorded during the half year in some reference markets should be accompanied, in the second half of the year, by a stabilization of the Egyptian market and a trend reversal of the Italian one which could lead to better overall results than in the first part of the year, barring unforeseeable changes in the economic context. The publishing sector remains characterized by a strong difficulty in advertising revenues”.
