Call Center: "80 jobs at risk", alarm from trade unions

After the cuts announced by Almaviva, which announced its intention to lay off over 2.500 employees between Rome and Naples, the unions are sounding the alarm about the future of call center workers.

"If the issue is not resolved soon, within a few months there will be 70-80 thousand jobs at risk" These are the statements released by the trade unions Slc-Cgil, Fistel-Cisl and Uilcom, during an informal meeting by the Labor commission of the Senate regarding the Almaviva dispute.

The associations have decided to appeal to the Government and Parliament asking our representatives to do something. On the basis of their analysis, there are three urgent problems to be addressed: creating rules that are able to counteract relocation by applying the sanctions already envisaged; subvert the system of "tenders to the bottom" by respecting the contractual minimums and guarantee workers stable social safety nets.

Meanwhile, the Almaviva case has returned to the center of attention of the Ministry of Economic Development due to the transfer of 135 workers from Palermo to Rende. The matter is currently being analyzed by the technicians of the Ministry of Economic Development and it began with the loss of the Enel order which will not renew the contract in December.
