Hot: truce until mid-August, then Caligula will arrive

Good news for those who suffer from the heat. The anticyclone Nero will be gone for a few days, thus giving a breath of fresh air at least until August XNUMXth, when Caligula arrives.

According to ilmeteo.it, rather cool air masses will arrive from the Baltic Sea over the weekend, bringing 26 degrees in the North, 27-28 degrees in the Adriatic regions and 30-32 in the Centre-South, including the islands.

No thunderstorms are forecast, but Bora, Grecale and Tramontana winds will blow, stronger on the north-eastern, Adriatic and Puglia regions.

In these hours the fresh air from Northern Europe is arriving which will trigger some storms on the Alps, the Apennines and the Ligurian coasts. On the 15th a new increase in temperatures is expected due to the arrival of Caligula, the sixth African anticyclone. The drought alarm will worsen: in some regions the days without rain will reach 60.

Sun and heat, fortunately not record-breaking, will continue overall until August 20th. The month of July, according to Coldiretti, is in sixth place among the hottest of the last two centuries (increase of 1,94 degrees), while June is even in third place, with an increase in temperatures of 2,6 degrees.

Fires in Italy have almost doubled (+93%), with 4.700 fires registered. Above all, agriculture has suffered considerable damage: -20% tomatoes and sunflowers, -30% corn, -40% soybeans.
