Heat: sultry storm and peaks of 41 degrees until Thursday

Alarm throughout the peninsula due to the exceptional heat wave. Red dot in 23 cities. Charon is preparing us a "Hot Storm" with temperatures between 38 and 41 degrees at least until Thursday. Then come turbulent thunderstorms with Circe. The advice of the Ministry of Health to protect yourself

Heat: sultry storm and peaks of 41 degrees until Thursday

Fiery Sunday, scorching July, record week and "sultry storm" arriving. There are a lot of superlatives to describe the exceptional heat wave that is making July 2015 the hottest since 1945 and perhaps, but we will have to wait until the end of the month to tell, the hottest ever.

For sure today, Sunday, will be one red dot day: in almost all Italian cities the temperature is expected to exceed 40 degrees. Charon gives no respite and reserves us, warns the site The Meteo.it, what in technical jargon is called "Hot Storm", a heat storm that will bring temperatures to historic highs with peaks of 41° and rare thunderstorms for another week. Then "towards the end of next week Charon will retreat, perhaps temporarily, towards the south and will leave room for the dangerous cyclone "Circe" which, if confirmed, will disrupt the weather in Italy with violent storms and possible tornadoes". This, at least, is the prediction. The advice from the Ministry of Health is clear: avoid going out between 11 and 18, drinking, eating fish and vegetables or fruit rather than meat, limiting tea and coffee, avoiding alcohol.

Waiting to find out if Circe is better or worse than Charon, the "heat wave report” of the Ministry of Health is now a long list of red dots (the highest level of alarm with health risks even for healthy people), from North to South, with very rare exceptions: Catania and Genoa (yellow dot indicating a level 1 alarm); Venice and Reggio Calabria with an orange dot (level 2). All the rest, i.e. 23 cities, are fiery red, with temperatures that forecasters indicate between 38 and 41 degrees until Thursday. You can't save yourself in the mountains where the heat is anomalous and not even in the water since the temperature of the sea has risen, even that, between 25-26 degrees. It's hard for fish too.
