Hot: peak on Saturday, then truce in the North

Still above average temperatures throughout Italy. The heat does not leave our country and on Saturday it will reach its maximum peak. From Sunday a truce will begin in the North with the arrival of some thunderstorms, while in the Centre-South to breathe again it will be necessary to wait until at least Thursday 10 – Friday 11 August. To say it are the meteorologists of the Epson Meteo Center, recalling that it is the fifth and most intense heat wave of this summer.

Meanwhile, it is still Campania that sets the new record: again in Grazzanise, in the province of Caserta, where the perceived temperature, thanks to the high humidity, is 55 degrees (real 35), according to the Air Force website. But Puglia and Sardinia are also hot. In Marina di Ginosa, in the province of Taranto, the heat is 50 degrees. While on the island dizzying temperatures are recorded in various locations: 49 degrees perceived in Capo San Lorenzo, 48 in Decimomannu, 45 in Capofrasca.

Thunderstorms on Sunday in the central Alps and the high plains of Piedmont and Lombardy, which will tend to extend, in the afternoon, to the rest of the Alps and a large part of Lombardy and, in the evening, also to the Venice and Emilia Romagna regions. Cooler winds will arrive and there will be a first drop in temperatures in the North. A slight attenuation of the heat will also occur in western Sardinia. The heat will still be very intense in the Centre-South and partly also in Emilia Romagna.

Complicating the already difficult situation is ozone, which in recent days has exceeded the alarm level (240 micrograms per cubic metre), especially in the areas north of Milan (from Como to Monza up to Bergamo). Elsewhere the levels remain above the information threshold (180 micrograms per cubic meter), such as in Parma, Turin, Benevento, Florence and Bologna.
