Record heat, respite in the North on Sunday

Yes, it's hot, and the weekend will be the hardest time to deal with, especially in big cities where peaks of around 40 degrees will be reached. But the news is different: according to weather forecasts, the cool weather is about to break the wave of sultriness that has been going on for weeks on the peninsula and which has also caused drought alarm especially in some areas of the North.

In fact, starting Monday, especially in the North, low Atlantic pressure will bring thunderstorms and lower temperatures almost everywhere. But the real respite is scheduled for next weekend, to be precise on Friday the 30th when fresh air, again of Atlantic origin, will give breath to the whole of Europe and to the whole of the Italian peninsula. That whole weekend will be marked by instability, while the anticyclone will return from Monday 3 July, even if it shouldn't have devastating effects like those recorded in June. In short, the month of July should be hot but bearable.

Meanwhile, however, the current weekend will be very tough throughout the peninsula: between Saturday and Sunday the peak, with maximum temperatures almost everywhere between 29 and 35 degrees, but with peaks of up to 37-38 degrees, especially in the North. In the afternoon/evening of Sunday the first decrease in the North: in Milan and Turin the temperature will drop by 6 degrees, in Bologna by 9. The heat, however, will persist in the Centre-South for the whole of next week.
