Weather and forecasts

Today and tomorrow, the heat will be intense with temperature that could reach 40 degrees. Other cities such as Ferrara, Florence, Foggia, Lecce, Oristano, Prato, Reggio Emilia, Syracuse, Trento and Verona will see temperatures between 38-39 degrees. In the afternoon, increased instability is expected in the Northwest, with thunderstorms developing from the mountains towards western Piedmont. Instability is also expected in Sardinia and in the central sectors, while the southern regions will enjoy a mainly sunny day.

When will the heat end?

After a summer characterized by scorching temperatures throughout the month, starting from the 16 August slight relief is expected. Experts explain that this change will represent a summer mini-break, with a decrease in temperatures of approximately 2-3 degrees. In other words, from next week temperatures will drop to around 36 degrees, with a reduction in the heat and fewer tropical nights. But when will this parenthesis occur?

From Friday August 16, the heat will begin to decrease. Sicily and the South will continue to suffer from the heat, with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms in Sardinia and an increase in thunderstorms in the Alps and the Emilian Apennines.

Saturday August 17th, thunderstorms could occur in the morning in Sardinia and Tuscany, with a disturbance that will cross the Alps bringing scattered showers and some thunderstorms also in Piedmont and Lombardy towards the evening.

Sunday August 18st, the North will be unstable with thunderstorms, especially in the Triveneto and central regions. In the southern peninsula, the phenomena will be weaker, while temperatures will begin to drop, particularly in the centre-north.

Monday August 19, there will be an improvement in the North, in Sardinia and in the upper Tyrrhenian Sea. However, the Central-South will continue to be unstable with thunderstorms, some even strong. Temperatures will continue to drop, bringing more pleasant weather.
