Il football bets still overwhelms the world of Italian football. It's called 'Dirty Soccer' the operation of the State Police, conducted together with the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Catanzaro, which has brought to light a system capable of alter the results of Lega Pro and Serie D football matches.

The investigation would start from an interception by Pietro Iannazzo, a leading exponent of the 'Ndrangheta of Lamezia Terme, in which there was talk of match-fixing on some matches. Through this interception, the investigators were able to shed light on a round of illicit bets, match-fixing and alteration of the results which would involve numerous teams and their managers.

The papers of the Catanzaro Prosecutor's Office indicate that with regard to this new branch of the football bets there are about fifty people arrested and about 70 suspects and among these there are presidents, managers, players and intermediaries. The companies involved in the football betting round are Pro Patria, Barletta, Brindisi, L'Aquila, Neapolis Mugnano, Torres, Vigor Lamezia, Santarcangelo, Montalto, Puteolana and Akragas.
