Calcioscommesse: the indictment for Conte is on the way

As anticipated this morning by Corriere dello Sport, the coach of the Italian national team Antonio Conte will in all likelihood have to face trial regarding the investigation into the football bets of the Cremona Public Prosecutor's Office. Prosecutor Roberto Di Martino will ask for the indictment for Conte regarding the investigations into a match in the 2010-2011 Serie B championship when the current blue coach was at the helm of Siena. The match in question is Novara-Siena of 30 April 2011 ended 2-2. There would also be a second match, Albinoleffe-Siena for which, however, the prosecutor would have decided to close Conte's position.

The grain of football betting falls again on the Salento coach less than a year from the 2016 European Championships in France. Now Conte could be tempted to resign to concentrate on the Cremona process, the alternative would be to ask for the immediate rite. The trial will start in the autumn and the aim is to close the matter before the kick-off of Euro 2016.

Asked about this issue no more than three weeks ago, the coach Conte had made it clear again that he wanted to stay on the blue bench aware of the difficulties of this choice. Today, with the news of the indictment, the coach of our national team will have to weigh carefully what to do for his own good and that of the blue shirt. Going to Euro 2016 after months of media pressure on the matter and with the specter of a possible conviction is a difficult challenge. It now remains to understand the position of the FIGC and its president Tavecchio who has always defended coach Antonio Conte from day one. The football summer will be hot even in the blue house.
