Transfer market, last rings: Chiesa to Juve, Smalling to Roma

The final arrival of Chiesa from Fiorentina completes the sumptuous transfer market of Juve – In extremis Roma find Smalling again – The latest operations of Inter and Milan – Bakayoko is from Napoli – After Chiesa in Florence

Transfer market, last rings: Chiesa to Juve, Smalling to Roma

Juve did the final blow. Buying Church (two-year loan, 3 million immediately and 7 next year: the remaining 40 + 10 bonus will be paid in 2022), combined with sales of Douglas Costa to Bayern Munich and De Sciglio to Lyon (both on loan), allows the Lady to almost entirely complete her transfer market.

Almost, because Paratici would have wanted to take too one between Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso, thus reinforcing an even more deprived full-back sector than last year, but in the end he didn't succeed. After all, Pirlo's tactical system includes full-range wingers, people like Cuadrado, Alex Sandro, Bernardeschi and, of course, Chiesa, without forgetting Kulusevski, whose role is not yet entirely clear.

The other big deal of the day is Smalling's return to Rome, which ended right next to the final gong for 15 million plus 5 in bonuses. The Englishman thus puts back on the yellow and red shirt abandoned, despite him, at the end of last season, when Manchester United demanded to have him back for the Europa League final eight. Rome is also very active on the sales front with the departures of Perotti (Fenerbahce) and Kluivert (Leipzig): the departure of the two outsiders, however, was not enough to get to El Shaarawy, blocked by Chinese bureaucracy.

Day in chiaroscuro also for Inter, who after having placed Joao Mario at Sporting Lisbon (an outright loan with salary paid entirely by the Portuguese) and rescinding the contract with Asamoah, hoped to "get rid" of Nainggolan as well. However, the agreement with Cagliari has not been found: too much distance between the parties on the assessment of the Ninja, who thus remains available to Conte at least until January. As for revenue, the Nerazzurri's day was limited to Darmian alone (loan with obligation to buy), while for Moses and Gervinho (proposed to Parma an exchange with Pinamonti) there was nothing to do.

Market closure totally blank instead for Milan, who failed to give himself the central defender requested by Pioli. Maldini kept three tracks open until the late afternoon: Simakan from Strasbourg, Kabak from Schalke 04, Rudiger from Chelsea. In the end, however, thanks to the constraints imposed by Elliot, the Rossoneri manager had to raise the white flag, concluding the transfer campaign without final calls. Instead, outgoing to note the sale of Laxalt to Celtic, among other things next opponent in the Europa League.

Back to Italy Bakayoko, but not at Milan: the Frenchman joins Gattuso in Naples with the formula of the onerous loan (2 million + part of the salary). A nice coup that completes an even too rich squad: Milik and Llorente, in fact, have remained on the payroll, despite not being part of the blue project for some time. Instead, Younes (Eintracht Frankfurt), Ounas (Cagliari), Ciciretti (Chievo) and Luperto (Crotone) were sold. all with the loan formula.

For the rest, many operations to report, starting with one Florentine unleashed after the sale of Chiesa: Commisso decided to replace him with Callejon, who released himself from Naples at the end of last season. To reinforce the Viola also Barreca from Monaco and the defender Martinez Quarta from River Plate, while Piatek remained only a dream. Blows also for Verona, where Nicola Kalinic arrived outright from Atletico Madrid, for Turin, who gave Giampaolo a striker (Bonazzoli from Sampdoria) and an attacking midfielder (Gojak from Dinamo Zagreb), for Udinese, who signed Deulofeu from Watford and for Sassuolo, who ended his campaign with Marseille midfielder Maxime Lopez.

Ma the most expensive operation of the day is the one between Manchester United and Atalanta, with the very young Traoré moving to Old Trafford for 30 million plus 10 in bonuses: an incredible deal if you consider that the forward only played 24 minutes in Serie A. Evidently the Red Devils have decided to invest on the advanced department given that, in addition to the Ivorian baby, they also signed Cavani (two-year contract worth 10 million per season).

Offensive shots also for Bayern Munich and PSG who gave themselves Choupo Moting and Moise Kean, the latter followed for a long time by Juventus. Now the transfer market can go into the archives, with the awareness that, after all, the dates count for little: the negotiations, in fact, never stop…
