Transfer market, report cards: Inter queen and Marotta beat Paratici

The transfer market crowns Inter: the credit goes to Marotta, who solved the Icardi case and made valuable purchases by outclassing his former pupil Paratici from Juve, who was unable to sell – The votes of the others

Transfer market, report cards: Inter queen and Marotta beat Paratici

INTER, VOTE: 8

The icing on the cake came with the sale of Icardi, the last real obstacle for the market gold medal. The triumph of Marotta's hard line, the true great architect (together with Conte) of an almost perfect summer session, both technically and economically. Of course, for the "10" Dzeko, a top player in midfield like Milinkovic-Savic and a right winger who would give more certainties (Candreva and the semi-unknown Lazaro are all to be verified) would have been needed but the vote is already very, very good . The truth is that Marotta, in his first summer as an Nerazzurri player, did everything in his power to strengthen the squad, all without exceeding the parameters of the FFP: Lukaku, Barella and Sensi will be paid in several tranches, Sanchez, Godin and Biraghi, albeit for different reasons, cost practically nothing. In terms of sales, perhaps more could have been collected but "getting rid" of Nainggolan, Perisic and Icardi is still a success. In short, Conte can be said to be really satisfied and this, considering the subject in question, explains Inter's success by itself.

NAPLES, VOTE: 7,5

Had Icardi arrived, it would have been a 9 market but even so, all in all, the vote can only be very positive. Everyone was waiting at the De Laurentiis gate and he, for the first time since he managed Napoli, replied present. The signings were of an excellent level, from Manolas hired to strengthen the defense in Lozano, one of the most interesting profiles on the entire international scene, passing through the young (but ready) Di Lorenzo and Elmas and the more elderly, but still definitely on the piece, Llorente, the latter on a free transfer. What was most surprising, however, were the lack of sales of the big names, in particular Koulibaly and Allan: keeping them both, in spite of the multimillion-dollar offers (for them), was a true masterpiece. With Icardi and James Rodriguez, perfection would have been achieved but this, moreover, does not exist. Ancelotti has everything to try to win something, vice versa the bad grade, this time, would be his turn.

JUVENTUS, VOTE: 6,5

Third place on the market podium and this, in itself, is already news. However, given that his squad, on paper, remains largely the strongest, the vote can only be good, albeit with some reservations. In fact, the incoming work had started very well: two purchases (and what purchases!) on a free transfer like Ramsey and Rabiot, the best young defender in the world like De Ligt, a good full-back like Danilo. But then the Lady ran aground and here the viewfinder can only end up on Paratici, defeated in no uncertain terms by the old (in the sense that now they no longer speak to each other) friend Marotta. At the beginning of August, Sarri had raised an alarm about the excessive number of players in the squad, perhaps hoping to speed up the thinning work, but no one has left at all. The result is that Juve have 8 forwards (!) and 7 midfielders (!), a big problem for those who will have to manage the turnover, but also for those who will have to make transfers on the 10th of each month. The great managers, say the football gurus, are seen when they have to sell and here Paratici, despite him, has shown that he still has a long way to go before joining the club. Questionable (euphemism) then the management of the Dybala case, kicked out in a bad way and reinstated after his (legitimate) refusals: his recovery will be one of Sarri's most difficult missions. Bad impression also on the Icardi and Chiesa fronts, seduced and abandoned not by choice but by necessity. For once Juventus, rather than making the transfer market, suffered it. Was it just a coincidence that the first summer without Marotta?

LAZIO, VOTE: 6

Market without rings, of course, but from which Lazio still emerges strengthened. To begin with, a winger like Lazzari has arrived, last year on the notebooks of numerous big names, but above all, no one left. Never taken for granted, especially in a summer like this, which started with the assault on the Biancocelesti. Milan, before relying on Massara, had tried to convince Tare and there had also been several rumors about Inzaghi. Lotito has shown that he has now built an important reality, plunder-proof. However, the greatest demonstration came with Milinkovic-Savic and Luis Alberto, both destined to leave and instead remained in Rome. The Serbian, in particular, now seemed ready to transfer but Lazio held out, forcing the various big players involved to go elsewhere. All this, mind you, without displeasing anyone, a sine qua non for a sufficient vote at the end of the market. Fourth place in the standings, in light of all this, is really within reach.

Roma, VOTE: 5,5

Half a point more for the rings in the final, which brought a forward (Kalinic), a playmaker / winger (Mkhitaryan) and a defender (Smalling) to Fonseca. Petrachi has therefore completed the squad but the sensation, also in light of the first days of the championship, is of a team that hasn't strengthened much compared to last season, on the contrary... Manolas' departure has undoubtedly weakened the defense and the Smalling-Mancini duo, on paper not enough to cover the hole. For the rest, many new faces, all right, but few, very few, certainties. Can this Mkhitaryan do better than El Shaarawy? And will the Veretout-Diawara couple give more guarantees than De Rossi and Nzonzi? Difficult to say, which is why the Roma market remains insufficient. On balance, the best operations were the renewals of Dzeko and Zaniolo, two who were already there last year, the rest is yet to be discovered, including the coach. Not the best premise for those who, after failing to access the Champions League, have liquidated two flags like Totti and De Rossi, removing any filter between themselves and the fans. Petrachi took a big risk, now we'll see if the field proves him right…

MILAN, VOTE: 5

Black jersey of the market, which not even the (proven) justifications can erase. Maldini and Boban, in their first summer in charge, had their hands tied by UEFA, there is no doubt about this, but their work still raises many perplexities. First of all for the technical choices, games under the banner of a 4-3-1-2 (therefore chasing the attacking midfielder) and ended instead with Rebic, winger/second striker with other characteristics. The young Duarte and the redundant Madrid player Herandez arrived in defense, both to be discovered, in midfield instead, after having caressed the dreams of Modric and Ceballos, here is Bennacer (perhaps the best signing) and Krunic from Empoli. Finally, in attack, Correa faded, all-in on Rafael Leao (35 million) and Ante Rebic, for a total of 59 million. But the insufficiency, more than from the purchases, derives from the transfers, the real Achilles' heel of the Maldini-Boban duo. Steps for the (s)sale of Cutrone (18 million, in the light of current prices, are few), and for the loan of André Silva, but the missed departures of one/two of the various Castillejo, Calhanoglu, Kessié and Suso have prevented the real coup, the one that, perhaps, would have brought prestige to the AC Milan summer. All confirmed last season's men, in defiance of the needs of a Giampaolo who, by his own admission, does not like to retreat an inch from his beliefs. Giving him an adequate squad was the task of the managers, a job which, at the moment, does not seem fully successful.
