Business Translator, Generali: the training initiative that combines business results and data science is born

To train new professional figures capable of dealing with the growing needs of the information society, data processing and decisions based onartificial intelligence and machine learning to improve the business and business results. It's called Business Translator and it's the goal of the first training initiative of the "Data Science & Artificial Intelligence Institute" made up of Friuli Venezia Giulia research institutions (SISSA, UniTs, UniUd, ICTP, MIB Trieste) and Assicurazioni Generali - in line with the new three-year strategic plan “Lifetime Partner 24: Driving Growth” – and developed in collaboration with the Generali Group Academy – the Generali Group's Corporate University – and with the Group's Analytics Solutions Centre.

For the Chairman of Assicurazioni Generali, Gabriel Galateri of Genola, the initiative "is an example of synergy between public and private that leverages the excellence of the territory", a "reality that responds to the new challenges of the contemporary world and allows us to understand and evaluate, among other things, the risks emerging, grasping their interconnections and facilitating knowledge of future scenarios".

Here comes the Business Translator: an innovative professional figure

The project for the development of the innovative professional figure of the "Business Translator" will involve several hundred managers at an international level. The goal is to develop specific applications and case studies and facilitate the orientation of the Institute's research to the most topical sectors for the economic and productive world, with a view to creating a "virtuous circuit between study and application in the field, public and private,” reads a statement from the group.

La administrative headquarters of the Institute will be at SISSA, in Trieste, and the activities will be carried out at the operating offices of the affiliated universities as well as of the other partners and at any other offices available for the Institute's activities.

Among the research projects envisaged in collaboration with Generali are: the development of geophysical and mathematical models with artificial intelligence techniques to improve the risk predictions of natural disasters and the development of explanatory techniques to understand the ethical implications of decisions made using complex artificial intelligence models such as deep neural networks.

The activities also include the promotion and activation of joint doctoral courses, masters, research programs and training initiatives aimed at improving the preparation and professional development of students/PhD students/postdocs/relevant to disciplines of interest to the Institute .
