The European Commission's final judgment on the 2015 Stability Law of Italy, France and Belgium will be released on February 27 and "will take into account all relevant factors". EU Commissioner for Economic Affairs Pierre Moscovici said this today at a press conference after the release of the new EU estimates. Previously the final evaluation was expected in early March.
However, the climate is positive and suggests a green light on the indicated date. The European Commission, added Moscovici, "has established a very good collaboration with the competent ministries" of Italy, France and Belgium and the assessment that will be released at the end of February will be a "shared diagnosis". But, he added, "not everything is resolved yet."
“The main challenges for Italy are the high level of public debt and low nominal growth”, warns Brussels. "We encourage the government to exercise budget prudence and proceed with ambitious reforms."
