10-year Btp: rates return below 5%, the spread decreases

I interest rates on 10-year Italian government bonds returned below the psychological threshold of 5% this morning, up to a minimum of 4,983%. It is the first time this has happened since last September 20th. The new level of returns corresponds to one spread Btp-Bund down slightly to 352 basis points, after closing yesterday at 357. The yield on the German Bund also fell to 1,44%.

The director of the Public Debt Department Maria Cannata underlined in an interview with Corriere della Sera that the Italian debt issued in the first 9 months of 2012 has a cost of 2,4%, down from 3,61% in 2011.

Meanwhile, in Spain, the yields of the Bonos show a hint of filing at 5,74% and their spread on the Bunds is little moved at 429 basis points.
